As worldwide oil and gas reserves fall and exploration moves into new, uncharted territory, the ability to acquire the data needed to accurately pick well locations is becoming more and more difficult. 2D and 3D seismic is relied upon heavily by E&P companies to reduce risk and ultimately pinpoint where additional reserves may be identified. Also, as the energy sector begins to explore in emerging countries/markets worldwide, seismic data is generally the prerequisite issued by local governments as a condition of license approval. This reduction of costs is clearly visible to the client by way of more cost effective and timely acquisition.

VGS has utilized this advanced system to acquire seismic through major residential and industrial areas, rugged mountainous terrain, rolling farm land and relatively flat coastal plains. In every case the client has enjoyed world-class seismic data at a fraction of the cost of standard cabled systems.
